OWEN - August 20 will be the 10th Annual Owen Main Street Car Show. Each year the Owen Downtown Revitalization Committee organizes this event with financial support of many local sponsors.
Cars will roll in between 11 a.m.-noon to be registered. From noon-3 p.m. visitors are asked to vote for their favorite vehicle. There will be 15 different classes with first, second and Best of Show trophies to be awarded.
A Pin-Up Contest will be held this year for ladies 18 years and older. “For the pin-up contest, each girl will fill out a brief questionnaire that DJ Drew will use to read off and introduce them all. The girls will mingle with the crowd throughout the day. Around 3 p.m, the girls will all come back up by the DJ trailer and will be asked a couple questions. The judges will score based on composure, answers to the questions, hair/makeup, and their outfit. The public will be able to vote for their favorite as well,” explained DRC member Carey Hargot.
Traditionally, the Best of Show winner leads the parade of cars through Owen. This year the Car Show parade will caravan to the Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center, so residents can watch through the windows. The committee is excited about this new route to be able to share the experience with those who cannot attend.
Accompanying the main attraction will be the Owen Farmers Market to be held at the Millpond Park from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Food and drinks will be served at the car show and Red Daisy Girl will be serving flip-flop chicken. A free bouncy house and train rides will be available. Rowdy Boys Entertainment will be filling the streets with music from noon-5 p.m. and 8 p.m.-midnight.
