Owen-Withee’s BioGirls were denied their run during Withee Days, thanks to the pandemic. They wanted to try again for September. Not to be denied, they completed their run on Saturday, October 3, 2020.
It actually represents their first run as BioGirls.
BioGirls stands for “Beautiful Inside & Out.” It mimics the Girls on the Run program but BioGirls was started in Fargo, North Dakota. Morgan Mueller and Julie Kodl are the organizers of the program and the girls got to participate in the House of Friends’ Walk/Run in the 2019 Withee days.
This year, almost 30 girls participated in the run for completion. They started at the Withee Ball Field and ran the bike trail and back. “Just Finish” was the slogan for the race. And they did just that, with medals being awarded to the girls for finishing the almost 40-minute run.
With Morgan and Julie are five mentors: Heather Mueller, Jessica Devine, Jona Hatlestadt, Rachel Renderman, and Jane Kroeplin.
This BioGirls chapter is the first one in the State of Wisconsin.
