Last Thursday the lady Hawks traveled to Colby for our third conference game of the season. Going into this game I felt like we had a solid week of practice and things were starting to click for us.
Well, the game didn't start off the way I had hoped. We found ourselves down 21 points 10 minutes into the game. We had managed to knock that down a little before halftime. We found ourselves down 15.
The second half we played even for the first 5 mins and then we cut the lead to 10 and was starting to feel the momentum turn for us. That's when #10 from Colby hit back-to-back 3s on us to go back up 16.
With 11:38 in the game, my coaching staff decided it was best to start a full court man-to-man press. That's when this game started to turn. Our defensive was relentless and we kept chipping away. The closer we got the louder the crowd got.
The girls fed off this energy and made one of the best comebacks I've ever seen. We won the game 59-54. This was a huge win for this team and brought this team together. If they didn't know before they should know now that this team is capable of a lot more than what expectations were of them before the season. The team was led by Reina Arndt with 25 pts and 9 steals. Makayla Gorka added 8 pts. Sidney Halida had 9 rebounds and 2 pts.
