The Blackhawks used a strong first half to put some distance on the scoreboard against the Pirates and with a strong start to the second half, the Hawks went on to win by a final score of 69-34.
Senior Aaron Ovyn got the Blackhawks started Thursday night with eight quick points. Ovyn scored the first bucket in the game off a nice pass from Caleb Geldernick, and the two would connect on the next possession as Ovyn would knock down a three. Two possessions later Ovyn toed up the three-point line again and this time Carter Klabon skipped it to him, as Ovyn gave the Hawks a quick 8-0 advantage. Klabon would later fight for two of his own, ripping down a rebound and muscling it back up and in. Logan Amacher got into the scoring column from an Ovyn pass, making it 15-5.
More defense from the Hawks lead to offense later as Amacher would score six of the Hawks ten points during a nice run which increased the score to 24-6. A solid fast break pass from Klabon to Geldernick for two would be one of the highlights that ended the half for the Blackhawks as they led 35-11.
The Blackhawks kept their offense going at the beginning of the second half, scoring on eight of their first eleven possessions. Tyler Weaver scored a quick two to start the run, followed by a Geldernick three. More offense, a three from Klabon, a pair of free throws from Wendler and a highlight feed from Wendler to Stinson for two. The Blackhawks continued to rotate players as the defense never stopped. An Ovyn assist led to a Jaedon Hanson hoop, then Elliot Ackerman found teammate Hayden Weiler for a three. The Blackhawks finished their scoring for the night with a putback by sophomore Alex Gutowski, winning 69-34.
The Hawks finished the night with 16 assists and 24 steals.

We did what we needed to do. I thought the guys kept their focus tonight and didn't get out of the game plan. We had a lot of different combinations of players in the game and the guys kept playing their roles.
It was nice to see that we got everyone in the scoring column, that doesn't happen too often. 40 rebounds was nice to see also.
