The Hawks hosted the Greenwood Indians Dec. 21st and turned things around in the second half to win 42-39. The Blackhawks got off to a good start getting up 9 to 8 with 9 minutes to play in the half. Things then dried up as the Hawks would score just 1pt the rest of the way trailing 21 to 10 at the half. We got our shots but couldn't knock them down and we only had 5 turnovers.
Jayden Hansen paced the Hawks with 6pts. It was a different story in the second half as the Hawks went on a 16 to 3 run to take a 26-23 lead. We also had 8 steals in the half. The Indians then came back with a 9 to 2 run of their own to take the lead. The Blackhawks then had 3 big steals on our trap with Hansen, Weiler and Henke all getting lay-ups. The Hawks got up by 2pts 41-39. Henke made a 3pt lead with a free throw with 9 seconds left and the Hawks hung on for the win.
The guys had some great passes inside and finished in the paint. Vincent Henke scored 13pts in the half and led the team with 12 rebounds. Ryan Nelson had 4 assists and Alex Gutkowski and Hansen had 7 boards as well. Just a great team effort by all. Also, the guys have been doing a good job wearing their masks which is a huge adjustment this season. Nice Job!
