The JV boys' basketball team started the season on December 4th, hosting the Columbus Dons and were defeated 54-33. This is a young JV team this season but I thought we got off to a good start.
The score was close for 10 minutes in but then we had a few dry spells offensively. Columbus started to pull away as the Hawks trailed 35-18 at the half with Rob Wendler having 5 pts. and Hayden Weiler 7pts., both knocking down threes along with Quinn Hatlestad.
The guys came out the second half and kept working hard defensively. On offense, we started to get more aggressive as we got to the free throw line 12 times. I thought we moved the ball well at times and got some good post touches. We also had balanced scoring. We have things to improve on and will continue to get better.
Box Score: (33) Weiler 10, Hatlestad 7, Nelson 5, Wendler 5, Dallman 3, Henke 2, Soweija 1. 3pts: (4) Weiler 2, Hatlestad 1, Wendler 1. FTS: 5-14 (35%)
