The JV Boys Basketball Team traveled to Neillsville to take on the Warriors and notched their final win of the season! Playing tough on the road this year, the six freshmen (Colin Dallman, Quinn Hatlestad, Vincent Henke, Ryan Nelson, Cristian Romo, Ethan Soweija) and first-year sophomore player Nathan Zarins took advantage of their tough trapping defense and pulled out a 38-26 victory over the host team.
The game started out with the Hawks taking an early lead with a few steals and layups and a 3 pointer by Dallman, and while they led the whole game, the Blackhawks couldn't pull away as the Neillsville squad kept it close. The first half ended with a 16-13 Blackhawk advantage.
The second half also remained close as each team traded buckets and played tough defense, but a run of hoops and defensive stops saw the Blackhawks take a commanding 12-point lead. The guys sustained this led to the end and came away with a big win! A balanced scoring attack attributed to the win as Henke (10), Dallman (9), Romo (8), Nelson (6) and Zarins (5) all scored on great post play and offensive rebounding. Hatlestad and Soweija ran the point and handled the Warriors pressure defense throughout the game.
Congratulations on a great season, guys.
