The Owen Autumnfest Committee met at Red Daisy Girl in Owen on Wednesday, September 8 at 5:30 p.m. This year’s Autumnfest will be held on Saturday, October 16 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Millpond Park, Owen.
The traditional Autumnfest activities will continue with a chili cook-off, scarecrow contest, pie eating contest, live music, crafts and vendors, Blackhawk Express rides and children’s activities. Organizations are again encouraged to come and share their missions and goals.
Those who wish to compete in the chili cook-off are asked to register at City Hall (715-229-2404) and bring a roaster 2/3 full of your chili. Prizes will be given will be 1st: $70 chamber bucks, 2nd: $50 chamber bucks and 3rd: $20 chamber bucks.
Register scarecrows by also calling city hall at 715-229-2404 and have them placed downtown Owen by October 6, 2021. There will be a scarecrow making class held on September 29 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Red Daisy Girl. Bring all the supplies to build a scarecrow, straw will be provided.
Pie Eating Contest
Another fun-filled/belly-filled pie eating contest will be held during Autumnfest. A trophy will be awarded for the fastest eater.
Besides a wide variety of chili to be tasted for only $5, there will be hot dogs and non-alcoholic drinks.
