The Owen-Withee FBLA students held a Miracle Minute at the last home basketball game to raise money for the March of Dimes. At half time of the game, the students collected money from the spectators for one mad minute and collected $206 for the March of Dimes organization.
The March of Dimes non-profit organization was founded by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1938, to fund the fight against infantile paralysis and to combat polio. Eddie Cantor coined the name March of Dimes. After funding the polio vaccine, it expanded its scope to the prevention of birth defects and infant mortality. Later after pre-term birth emerged as the leading cause of death in children throughout the world, the research and prevention of premature birth became its main mission.
