The Owen-Withee Theatre Department once again has garnered praise at the Wisconsin Interscholastic Theatre Festival. The troupe traveled to U-W Stevens Point to participate, along with 30 other schools in person and at least 6 virtually, at this coveted venue. And the group did not disappoint, bringing home several awards. Aidan Smith, Damian Nernberger and Rylee Ollinger each won an Individual Acting Award. Other awards garnered were a Technical Award, an Ensemble Award and the highest award: Critic’s Choice. In addition, Jeffer Scheuer earned a Director’s Award.
I Don’t Want to Talk About It by Bradley Hayward was his year’s production, a show that examines many problems that teens face today. Before getting to the State Festival, they needed to advance from District, then Sectional competition.
This group of dedicated students has met an hour before the school day, and on early Sunday evenings to perfect their production since the beginning of the school year. The cast includes Aidan Smith, Ben Heggemeier, Damian Nernberger, Mason Gay, Sully Poehler, Alyssa Graski, Ashley Gay, Dakota Shelton, Grayce Bottlemy, Rylee Ollinger and Tawny Ruppert. Crew members are Gabby Goessl, Kaylee Wagner, Sierra Bakke, and Zainab Abbasi. Ryan Gutsch served as videographer. Jeffer Scheuer directs.
