The Owen Autumnfest will be held this Saturday, October 31, 2020 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Owen Millpond Park. There will be no indoor option this year as previously reported, so please dress for the weather.
As in the past, there will be a chili-cook-off, pie eating contest, food for sale and music by Art Petke. The committee is happy to announce there will be also at least nine vendors attending, who will be set-up along the trail behind Dollar General. Thus far, the list of entrants for the Scarecrow contest include: Red Daisy Girl/TAP Construction (124 N. Central Ave), Jen's Hair Care/O-W Enterprise (106 E. 5th St.), Woodland Hotel, Owen Public Library, Pike Office Supply, The Sentinel and Rural News (Packer dude by the Millpond Dam), O-W Sports and Liquor, Gelhaus Dentistry (202 N. Central Ave.) and Marge Rohland for the Owen Farmer's Market (on the bench in front of the Old School). The DRC is grateful to all who helped make this event festive!
After the Autumnfest activities, the Owen DRC will host a children’s costume contest from 4 to 5 p.m. The contestants should line up along Central Avenue, Owen and stay with their family groups. The judges will come around to see them and hand out treat bags. With the recent increase of positive COVID cases in the county it is especially important for attendees to wear masks and allow for 6-foot social distancing.
