Dr Briggs is a 1980 graduate from the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland Oregon. Born the second in a family of nine kids, and the only one delivered by a naturopathic physician. That doctor was Dr John Bastyr, lovingly known today as the father of modern Naturopathic medicine, he had a university named after him.
After serving four years on a destroyer in the Navy, with three deployments to Vietnam, John decided to follow in the footsteps of Dr Bastyr. Dr Bastyr Got him into the curriculum at NUNM (NCNM back then), and upon completion of his schooling, conferred the ND degree on him. Initially Dr Briggs began his practice with Dr Turska, a classmate of Dr Bastyr's in the little town of Mist, Oregon. In 1985 Dr Briggs set up his own practice in Clatskanie, Oregon where he continues to practice today. At this time he sees patients from many parts of the world, and writes his weekly newsletter in hopes of assisting people to live full and healthy lives.
Early on in his practice, Dr Briggs found that treating just the physical body without regard for spirit and soul is useless if health challenges are from more than just ignoring a health diet and lifestyle. Nineteen years ago he joined a motorcycle ministry, (Chariots of Light) and loves seeing lives changed beyond that of just natural medicines. Don’t ever say you can’t change. Riding a motorcycle was the farthest thing from his mind twenty years ago. We're all in a state of change, the question should be, what direction is your life taking?
