Travis started working for newspapers when he was 15 years old, taking sports photos while he was in high school. It turned into writing stories and then to freelance journalism. Throughout his education, he edited high school, college, and graduate school newspapers. His education began with history and journalism and then on to advanced degrees in Church History and Theology, and History of Religions. After starting two Bible colleges - the last in 2003 - Travis began spending most of his time writing on Jazz, History, and Religion. He returned to newspaper editing in 2012 before founding the Sentinel & Rural News with Nicole in March of 2014.
The Sentinel & Rural News covers the news and events of Clark County and southern Taylor County, as well as regional news that affects those areas.
